Oktoberfest in Tennessee

Check out our small list of 2014 Oktoberfest in Tennessee festivals.  There’s six Oktoberfest parties for the half million Tennessee residents claiming German heritage. Maybe I just missed a few. As this puts you about on par with Vermont. I expect that these festivals are bigger, though, so I’ll give you Tennessee folks a pass for now until I get on down there to check them out. In the meantime, do your state and ancestry proud at one of these Tennessee Oktoberfest celebrations:

2014 Events

Ober at Gatlinburg Oktoberfest - Gatlinburg, TN – September 26 – November 2, 2014
Ober Gatlinburg hosts this festival with Bavarian-style food, Oktoberfest biers and live music. Entertainment includes Bavarian folk dances, schuhplattling, oompah music, sing-a-longs, and yodels. Location:  Ober at Gatlinburg Resort

Clarksville Oktoberfest – Clarksville, TN – October 3-4, 2014
Live music, German dancers, chicken dance as well as food and drink at this 34th annual Bavarian style Oktoberfest. Location: Clarksville Speedway, 1600 Needmore Rd Clarksville, TN 37040

Crossville Oktoberfest – Crossville, TN – October 10-11, 2014
24th annual festival hosted by the Crossville Knights of Columbus Council 8152 with live music, and both domestic and imported beverages. German food includes pork schnitzel, kasseler rippchen, bratwursts, knackwursts, weisswursts. Admission is $6 in advance and $7.50 at the door. Children under 14 get in free. Held the second weekend in October every year at the Crossiville Knights of Columbus property on Highway 70. Attendance is approximately 2000. Location: 2892 Hwy 70 East, Crossville, TN 38555

Nashville Oktoberfest – Nashville, TN – October 10-11, 2014
35th Annual Tennessee Oktoberfest in Nashville’s Historic Germantown. Over 30,000 attend this autumn festival with free admission. German music and live entertainment from Karen Yatuzis & the Die Musik Meisters, Alpine Mountain Band, and Steff Mahan, plus others. German food, beverages, polka dancing and stein hoisting contest. Children’s activity area featuring pony rides, clowns and inflatables. Arts, crafts, antiques and tours of Germantown’s historic churches. Proceeds benefit the restoration of Assumption Catholic Church and continuing outreach for the needy. Location: 7th Avenue & Monroe St, Nashville, TN

Kingsport Oktoberfest – Kingsport, TN – September 13, 2014
4th annual Oktoberfest with craft bier garden with 45 breweries offering over one hundred craft beers, live music, German food, wiener dog race, craft market, cornhole tournament, Tennessee Idiotarod shopping cart race and kid zone. It has been named twice by Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine as a Top 50 festival. Admission is free.
Location: 100 Main Street, Kingsport TN

Chattanooga Oktoberfest – Chattanooga, TN – October 16-19, 2014
German food, bier garten with four dozen local and seasonal beers, oompah band, 5K run and car show.
Location: First Tennessee Pavilion, 1826 Reggie White Blvd Chattanooga, TN 37408

Oktober Heritage Festival – Hohenwald, TN – October 10-11, 2014
Annual festival and 21st Annual Fall Cllasics Car and Truck Show host live entertainment, food, arts & crafts, BBQ cook-off and kids activities.
Location:  106 N Court Street, Hohenwald, TN

Past Events

Bluff City Oktoberfest – Memphis, TN – Not happening in 2014.
Our description of the 2013 event: This inaugural Memphis Oktoberfest celebrates Bavarian culture Southern style with live music, beer garden, local artisans, BBQ cooking contest and family activities.

Tennessee Valley Winery Oktoberfest – Loudon, TN – October 26, 2013
They host a large party with wine and live band.

If you find that these Oktoberfests aren’t up to par, try the largest Oktoberfest festivals in the United States for the most popular and attended celebrations of German heritage.
