There are 2.5 million residents of the Lone Star State claiming German heritage and many will head to a Texas Oktoberfest in September or October 2015.

We update the dates and locations of these German festivals as they are announced throughout the year.

Addison Oktoberfest – Addison, TX – September 17-20, 2015
You can find a Dallas Oktoberfest in Addison, located just north of Dallas. They transform the Addison Conference Centre into an authentic Munich beer hall with a Texas twist. It is considered one of the most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States. More than 70,000 will enjoy German food, Paulaner beer, live music, polka, folk dancing, and children’s entertainment. Admission cost varies by day. There is also a three course tasting dinner served by Chamerlain’s Brau Haus for $49 per person. And don’t forget the WOKC Oktoberfest Run for the Children on Saturday. Rahr Oktoberfest 5K – Fort Worth, TX – September 26, 2015
5k run/walk, live German polka and beer garden to benefit Trinity Habitat for Humanity. Location: 701 Galveston, Fort Worth, Texas

Oktoberfest Fredericksburg – Fredericksburg, TX – October 2-4, 2015
If you are looking for an Austin Oktoberfest, we encourage you to check out the Fredericksburg Oktoberfest, located 90 minutes east of Austin. It will celebrate its 35th annual event in 2015 with three stages of oompah music, German bier tent, Kinder Park area for kids, arts & crafts, domino tournament and the chicken dance. Location: 100 West Main, Fredericksburg, TX

Island Oktoberfest – Galveston, Texas – October 23-24, 2015
Authentic German food, live music, beer, games and more at this 34th annual Galveston Oktoberfest hosted by First Lutheran Church. It will run from 5 to 11 PM on Friday night and 11 AM to 11 PM on Satuday. Admission is free. Location: 2415 Winnie, Galveston, TX 77550

AustOberfest – Austin – October 17, 2015
Celebrate your German heritage in Central Texas with German beer, sausages, live music and bowling. Last year’s description: Austin Saengerrunde will host the 2nd annual event at Saengerrunde Hall and Scholz Bier Garten (1607 San Jacinto Blvd). Nine beer options from Paulaner and Hacker Pschorr. Unlivinted German-style sausages, mustards and sides. Sausage tasting is from 1-5 PM. Rooftop beer garden and live music from Czech polka band Czech Melody Masters and honky tonk band The Derailers. All inclusive tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door.

Wurstfest – New Braunfels, Texas – November 6-15, 2015
A celebration of German culture with food, German, Texan and domestic beer, live music and Bavarian entertainment, dancing, carnival rides and games. Location: 120 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130

McKinney Oktoberfest – McKinney, TX – September 25-27, 2015
Family friendly event with German food, music, drinks and children’s activities. The “beer garden” is 14 blocks in the Historic Downtown square. The event will go on Friday night from 4 to 11 PM, on Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from noon to 5 PM.

Kemah Oktoberfest – Kemah, TX – October 9-11, 2015
Third annual Oktoberfest in Kemah with craft beer from around the world, live music and authentic German food made by King’s Biergarten. Admission is $8. Children under the age of twelve are free. The event is organized by Gulf Coast Festivals. Location: Kemah City Parking Lot, Kemah Lighthouse District between 6th St & 7th St, Kemah TX 77565

Texas Renaissance Festival Oktoberfest Weekend – Todd Mission, TX – October 10-11, 2015
German music, dancing, bratwurst and steins of beer take over the Texas Renaissance Festival for the second weekend in October. Keg tapping, parade, and three contests for stein holding, bratwurst eating and the Bavarian costume contest. Location: 21778 FM 1774, Todd Mission, TX 77363

Waxahachie Oktoberfest – Waxahachie, TX – September 20, 2014
St Joseph Catholic School hosts this one day annual festival thirty minutes south of Dallas. German food and BBQ, biergarten, 40+ vendor booths. Kinderfest with children’s games such as basketball shoot, skeeball, Star Wars laser tag, plinko, fish pond and horserace. Raffle with prizes like $250 gift cards, 32 GB iPad mini, PlayStation 4, and four season passes to Six Flags. Free admission and free parking. Location: Waxahachie Civic Center

Oktoberfest Southlake – Southlake, Texas – October 3-5, 2014
Nearly 50,000 are expected at this 13th annual Texas Oktoberfest with food, beverages, arts & crafts, live music, children’s area and wiener dog race. Location: 1256 Main St # 244, Southlake, TX 76092

Faith Lutheran Church and School Oktoberfest – Huntsville, TX – October 11, 2014
It’s a bring your own beer Oktoberfest from 3-7 PM on the second Saturday in October. German food for $10 a plate, live music from Das Ist Lustig and dancing by the Rathkamp German Folk Dancers. Kinderfest for children. Admission is free! Location: 111 Sumac Road, Huntsville, TX 77340

Christ the King Cathedral Oktoberfest – Lubbock, TX, October 25, 2014

De Kalb Texas Oktoberfest – De Kalb – October 4, 2014
Held annually on the first Saturday in October. Kickoff the event with the Firemen’s pancake breakfast. There’s a parade, talent show, beauty pageant, street dance, classic car exhibit, gymnastics demonstration, carnival, Kids Korner, Lollie Moser Memorial Art Show, Quilts Expo and face painting.

Authentic El Paso Oktoberfest – September 12-14, 2014
German beer and food hosted by the El Paso Sports Commission. Gates open at 6 PM on Friday and Sunday, with activities running until midnight. Music by the band of Polka musician Alex Meixner. Tickets are $25-27, which includes a souvenir beer stein. VIP tickets available. Sunday is family day with games, music and acitvities from 11 AM to 5 PM.

Fort Bliss MWR Oktoberfest – September 19-21, 2014
Fort Bliss Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is organizing this event that has traditionally been run by the German air force. It is moving from its former location on Carter Road. About 2500 are expected to attend on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $30 each. Price gets you a traditional German meal and beer stein. Must purchase beer separately. Sunday is a free family day and open to all ages.

Lake Highlands Oktoberfest – Lake Highlands, Texas – October 4, 2014
 4th annual event brought to you by the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands. Live muisc, biergarten, food and kids activity area.  Be there for tapping the keg.

Southern Star Oktoberfest – Conroe, TX – September 20, 2014
Southern Star Brewing Company hosts an Oktoberfest featuring its craft beer and live music by Folk Family Revival. Tickets are $40 per person. The Designated Driver ticket is $15. Tickets include beer mug, beer, bratwurst plate, and live band music.

Oktoberfest By the Bay – Texas City, Texas – Oct 11, 2014
Memorial Lutheran Church will hold its 14th annual event from 11am to 6pm. There will be German food, cold beer, silent auction and raffles. For kids, there will be games, face ainting, train rides, moonwalk and slides.Free admission and parking.

Walburg German Restaurant Oktoberfest – Walburg, TX – Starts September 26, 2014

Oktoberfest Granbury – Granbury – October 10-12, 2014
Inaugural event on the historic banks of the Brazos River. General admission for adults 21+ is $10. Students 12-21 are $5 and kids are free.

King’s Oktoberfest – Pearland – September 26-28, 2014
Huge Oktoberfest party in Pearland! Food, Fun. Bier plus live music! Ceremonial keg tapping, jousting and strong man competitions. Oktoberfest photo booth too!

You probably don’t need to leave the state of Texas to find another Oktoberfest, but you might decide to amuse yourself by looking at the largest Oktoberfests in the United States so I’ll include the link here.
